Weekend Recap

Friday

Today after work I got home and had to hurry up and get packing! This evening we were going to be driving to go visit Matt's older brother and his family because it is our niece's 5th birthday today and she is having a birthday party tomorrow. So we were aiming to leave our house by about 5pm but we were able to get out the door around 4:30pm, go us! This however is during rush hour but it really wasn't too bad. We were on the road for about 2 hours and a half and then we arrived to their home. The kids were pretty excited to see us which is always great.
They were just finishing dinner so we grabbed a plate each too. After dinner it was time for the birthday girl to open her gifts. Of course she was excited about it.

 Then we had cake and hung out the rest of the evening.

Saturday

This morning we woke up early because we had a tee time at 8am. This is my second time golfing, my first time was in Mexico. So we had breakfast and out the door we went. Matt's parents were there so they watched the kids while Richard, Kunthea, Matt and I went golfing. We only did 9 holes and we did it in 2 hours which is the right amount of time to get 9 holes done. There were a few cheat times but that's ok it was only my second time golfing and we didn't want to hold up other people. Again Kunthea and I had a blast!

Once we got home it was time to get a few more things complete before the birthday party and lunch. Some more family members arrived before the party which was great. Then 2pm came and the kids started to come. There were only about 6 extra kids but man do they have a lot of energy. Here are some pictures of the party.

By the end of it I was pretty tired but that could have also been because I had just golfed in the morning. We left to go home after 5pm so we got home some what later then what either of us had wanted but it was really great to visit with family.

Sunday

This morning Matt had to go out super early to bring some consent forms for the youth weekend next week to the other congregations. He also got a call asking him to conduct service this morning when he really should have been the last person to have been asked. But he did it anyways. His service was really good I was proud of him.

After service we had some of the youth deacons come over for a BBQ. Just simple burgers and salad. It was nice to have them over.





Five Question Friday

Family

1.How many siblings do you have? Are you close to them?

I have one, an older brother. Yes I would say that we have a close relationship, I don’t know about every little thing that he does but we do have a good relationship for sure.

2. Do you have one set of parents (divorced or not divorced)?

 One set my mom and dad.

3. How many aunts and uncles do you have?

On my dad’s side I have 2 aunts (his sisters) and one uncle (he is engaged to one of my aunts). On my mom’s side she has 3 brothers and 2 sisters. So from the 3 brothers I have 2 aunts by marriage and from the 2 sisters I have 2 uncles by marriage.

4. Do you still have grandparents? What is the name you use for them?

I still have one set of grandparents (from my dad’s side) we call them Granny and Grandpa. My mom’s parents both had passed away she also had a step father but he passed away too.

5. Do you have any nieces or nephews?  

Yes I do! I have 2 nieces and 2 nephews, they are all from Matt’s side of the family.

Good Bye Winter Boots...... forever

The winters in Calgary are pretty cold but we often get Chinooks, which I love because it warms things up however I do not love what it does to my winter boots.

I just tossed them out today since it is garbage day tomorrow and there is no way to salvage these boots. I need to find some rubber boots that are warm inside. I had seen some online once and should have bought them when I saw them but I didn't. Darn it! Oh well when winter comes around again I will have to buy new winter boots again.

Paint for flowers

In July we have our church dedication for the new church that is being built in Chestermere, it's a pretty big thing because the Chief Apostle is going to be coming for this. I am usually the person that they ask to do the flowers for big services and they asked me to do the flowers for this service. There is also going to be a wedding anniversary blessing at this time too and the couple always gets a bouquet of roses. The wife's favorite color of this couple if purple, I'm not sure if anyone has tried to look for purple roses but they are hard to come by. So I found this flower spray paint in purple. I had a few white flowers left over from the mother's day flowers for the church so I thought it would be a good idea to test it out before I do it for the real thing. Here are my results:

Pretty good hey! I am impressed. I had asked the lady at Costco what shade of purple would roses come in and she said that they were a lite lilac color. Which is great but I really do like this dark color. As soon as the long weekend in May is done I am going to go back and focus more on these flowers again and do some more research and choose which types of flowers I am going to use. Any ideas?
