Renovation Wednesdays

We have been doing some renos on our home since lets say the beginning of 2009. It started with getting new windows and doors put on our house. The previous windows had iron bars on the outside of them, umm HELLO??? how would you get out if there was a fire? Also they were really hard to open and had no locks hence the bars. The doors were pretty ugly too and we wanted to try and get as much natural light in as we could so our new doors have windows in them.

Mary Kay Christmas Open House

So as I have mentioned before I sell Mary Kay "part-time" and this past weekend on saturday I had a Christmas open house for Mary Kay. Easy way to get some Christmas Gifts since yes that time is getting nearer. So I thought I would share some pictures of what it looked like :)

Floral Fridays

So I just thought I would start Flower Fridays to show you all some of the flower arrangements that I have done for our church. See we have a schedule that people can volunteer for to help with the cleaning, fellowship food and flowers for the alter. I am on that list and sometimes I do flowers more times then I am scheduled for. This is usually when there are big services with ministers from out of town. So I can't remember exactly when I did the flower arrangements and or who was in town (I've been doing this for awhile and never really kept track)

But here is a start anyways. Hope you enjoy!

My First Blog Award!

7 Things About Myself:
1.) I was born and raised to the age of 9 in Winnipeg Manitoba (also known as Winterpeg... burrrrrr!)

2.) I have many jobs, some more enjoyable then others. But only two of them I get paid to do, I work as a full time Dental Assistant and I also sell Mary Kay on the side (you can check out my website here there is also an online "e-catalog" on the site as well!

3.) I have one sibling, he is my older brother by 2 years. We are actually 2 days and 2 years apart. Everyone thinks I'm older then him, which I go along with by calling him my little brother.

4.) I have a really wonderful husband who loves me sooooo much and treats me really good. He is always there for me if I need to talk or just hug (and he is not a hugger type of person but if I need one he is there for me all the time). Really what more could I ask for he is awesome!

5.) I am they type of person who likes things done a certain way and if they aren't done the way I want it I will change it. Its just who I am, bit of a perfectionist.

6.) My favorite season is Fall. I love wearing fall clothes like nice colourful jackets and nice boots and light scarfs. But best of all is the colours the leaves change. Also the sound that they make when they blow across the ground, its one of my faves.

7.) So when I was younger I was a super big fan of the Spice Girls! One fun memory that comes up is really not too long ago, maybe a year or so, but my brother and I were driving in his car and had my Ipod on and I really wanted to listen to the Spice Girls, so I found the album and started to play it. My brother cranked the stereo and rolled the windows down and opened the sun roof and we started to sing the songs as loud as we could. It was really funny because we got a few funny looks but that was fine, it was so much fun,

Perogies Anyone?

So my first time making home made perogies was on Thursday November 11th. I had the day off from work because of Remembrance Day. So I planned with my mom that I would start to give her a hand with the hundreds of perogies that need to get made for our Christmas Eve Traditional Polish Dinner. Hmm perogies! If you have never had them, oh boy you need to get the recipe and try them, you can't even compare them to store bought. So this is an all day event project (FYI we didn't even finish all the perogies that day) we started with making the filling then the dough. The filling is best when it has cooled down before you start filling the dough (it hurts your fingers when it is too hot). Here is a picture of what it looks like when you are ready to get down to business.

Then you have to pinch it together and roll the edges.

Around 6 pm is when we called it quites since I had to go home and get a few other things done. But we were able to complete about 130 perogies. Also since we were making them we got to have a taste too, you know just to make sure they will be good for Christmas Eve.

My Brother Is HOME!!!!

Today my brother came home from his back packing trip through Europe and Australia! He was gone for almost three and a half months, he wanted to be gone for a lot longer but money wasn't able to be stretched as far as he was hoping. Oh well none of us complained that he was coming home sooner. So this time on his travels he kept in touch with us through email and even called my mom on her birthday. I knew he was going to call her so that was one surprise and then for his coming home I had to keep it a secret because he wanted to surprise mom and dad. So today I went to the airport to go and pick him up to bring him back to my parents house. It was really good to see him, he also came home with a surf board! Its pretty cool but it got damaged on the flight home, he is definitely putting a complaint in, he hasn't had much luck with this airline in the past. So when we got to my parents house my dad was upstairs on the computer and my mom was out (even though I said when I was going to be coming over that day). Anyways I ask my dad what he is up to and of course he said "Ah this computer I'm trying to figure something out", then my brother pipes up and then my dad comes running downstairs. It was really funny. Then mom finally comes home and was very happy to see that my brother was now home. It was really hard to keep it a secret but it was worth it. The Grease Experience

So sorry about the late update on the FABULOUS Grease Musical from Friday, just got so busy! But the night was really fun. My mom came over earlier before the show and she brought me home made soup! It was sooooo GOOD! Then we left early around 6:30pm for the show which started at 8pm. It really should have taken us only 30 minutes but I know when driving with my mom sometimes we go on little adventures as she calls them before we get to our final destination. So let me explain these "adventures" basically it means we missed our turn on the road that we needed and then mom decides that if we go down this road and this one we should get there no problem. Well that doesn't always work out the way we hope it will. On the way to Grease we only had a mini "adventure" because I know the area a bit since I went to school around there so I knew a few of the roads that would get us to where we needed to be going. It was all good in the end, we got there early enough to be able to find a good parking spot, and chat before the show. There is nothing that I hugely dislike more then being super rushed and late. It was a very fun evening with my mom. When we got in and found our seats, not much longer did the show begin. It first started off with Eddie Mekka (from Laverne & Shirley, come on you know the show) and he was pretty funny, that guy has a lot of energy and he taught us the hand jive which was really fun. Mom kept mixing up the order and kept forgetting the rolling part. We had a few good laughs.

Then the show began. It was so exciting! The characters played their parts really well, my favorite was Rizzo. When she did her solo to "There are worse things I could do" man was she good, she had all the little quirks that the Rizzo had in the movie. SO GOOD!!!!

Yay Its Friday!

So excited for today not only is it Friday but I get to go see Grease the Musical!!!! Yes that is right Grease is the Word! I love Grease, Matt no so much. So I am taking my mom to go see it. It was her birthday in September and there were all these advertisements for Grease so I asked my mom if she would like to go see Grease as her birthday gift and she was really excited. I will post more tomorrow about it.

It is going to be so much fun!

How We Met

So I thought I would post on how Matt and I met.

Well to go way back, our families have always know each other by relatives. I used to live in Winnipeg MB when I was little up until I was turning 10 years old. Matt has an Aunt and Uncle and cousins that live in Winnipeg and go to the New Apostolic Church (which is where we were going and still are now but just in a different province; our church is world wide). So growing up we I knew Matt's relatives in Winnipeg. Then when we moved I didn't know Matt right away because he didn't live in the City that we were in. At the age of 16 is when I met Matt, well I did see him before here and there with Church activities but never talked to him because I am shy and I don't make the first move, too scary! Anyways, our youth group with church would go away to different places on a few weekends through out the year.The weekend of August 1st to 4th 2003 was when we finally got to talking.
So this weekend was in Banff and we stayed at the Banff Y Mountain Lodge

It was really nice there actually. The rooms that we were in were more Hostel style with bunk beds and washrooms that were used by everyone on the same floor. The first night that we got there we basically just got our selves settled to which rooms we were staying in, dinner and then walking the Banff downtown (or you could just hang out in the common areas). I went walking downtown with a bunch of people (in that crowd was Matt :}) So as walking along the strip downtown a bunch of the people wanted to go in stores and Matt and I were not so interested in going in so we continued to walk and was talking the whole time, this is when I first started to like him.
On Saturday the we all went to Johnston Canyon/ Lake Louise for hiking. Here is a picture of the Canyon

The mountains are so beautiful! It was a really good hike. I didn't really hang out with Matt that day until dinner. Then everyone got ready to go to the hot springs which is really cool because your outside on part of the mountain in a big "hot tub". At the hot springs Matt and I got to talk some more again which I thought was great since I was so shy. Later that evening when we got back to the Lodge I was having some troubles with a friend and Matt was there being really sweet and helping me through it, I know it sounds corny but he made things so much easier and better. So I'm not going to bore you to death with too much more. But the next day was really fun, we had church service and then we went WHITE WATER RAFTING!!!! We went on the Kicking horse, so much fun! If you haven't been white water rafting I would totally recommend it (I've been more then once since then). The rest of the weekend involved a lot more talking to Matt which was really weird for me then because I was super shy, like really really shy! Oh and eye flirting. Does anyone else know what I mean by eye flirting, Matt thought it was funny when I told him that's what we had done. He doesn't get it. But ever since that weekend Matt and I continued to talk and get together and finally became official boyfriend and girlfriend November 8 2003. Seven years solidly together next Monday! I love you Hun!

Weekend Recap

So this weekend I didn't end up doing to much, which is pretty nice since most weekends are really busy!

Saturday we had a youth choir practice and service at church. It was really good! The choir practice went amazingly well, at the beginning its always a little rocky but as soon as everyone's voices got warmed up we were blowing the roof off the place! Also our singing in service was really amazing too! You have to understand that usually our youth choir is not very powerful because people are shy and not too many people usually sing. But this time there were lots of people singing! There was also an engagement blessing that took place for a wonderful couple, it was really special to have that at a youth service.

Then Sunday we had service at Church in the morning. After church i was in a bit of a cleaning mood. So I did laundry and dishes. I also came across a box from my "teen" years of things that I would keep from different events and dates :) I found the itinerary for a youth trip in Banff in the summer of 2003 That is was when my now husband and I officially met. There will be a post on this later now that I found it. I also found my diary, not sure how many other people kept diaries but looking back at it it was kind of funny. It also helped me to remember all the things that happened in the beginning of our relationship. If you wrote in a diary have you ever gone back to look at it if you still have it?
