Weekend Recap

Friday

This afternoon Matt's parents came to our house for the weekend since this is the weekend where we have our new church dedication! So it will be a fairly busy weekend ahead. This evening though was pretty laid back, just finished getting somethings together for tomorrow and had dinner.


Saturday

Oh early morning! I woke up early today because my mom was going to coming over to my house for around 9am so we can head out right away to Costco so I can pick up the flowers that I had ordered. So off we went and got to Costco before it opened at 9:30am and got our cart and bins ready to pick up the flowers. As soon as it opened we headed to the flower stand and let the ladies know that I was here to pick up my order. While they went to the back to get the order mom and I were looking at the other flowers there and started to pick some other flowers that they had gotten in. See with Costco they have a list that you can order from but they can't always necessarily get the exact flowers you want so you have to put a second choice down just in case. Also they sometimes just randomly get flowers that they never usually get like peonies! So I took three packages of peonies and different colored hydrangeas! Not to bore you too much now let me just skip the process of putting them together (there was some drama from other people that was going on) and show you the end results.

Sunday

Today was our dedication service for our new church. In the morning all I could think about was I hope my flowers aren't dead yet. That would have been awful! When we got there the flowers still looked great hooray! It was a very early morning because the choir had to be there early to do warm ups and get in their seats because this service was going to be transmitted to other congregations across Canada. After the service we went to a big hall and had a great lunch, I was starving by then because I didn't have a very big breakfast, I should have brought snacks with me, oh well. But over all the day went really great.

Canmore

Today Rachel, Henry and I made a little day trip out to Canmore. We had beautiful weather! It was a pretty laid back day, we went into some of the stores in Canmore's downtown, then walked down a little path and found some picnic tables. We picked the one in the shade and we ate our picnic lunch that I had packed.

You may be wondering hey this is a Monday shouldn't you be at work? Well no actually because I have this whole week off (I also had last week off too). Yay summer vacation!

Friday

Around 10:30am today I went over to my friend Sokhim's house since she had the day off from work and I have had the whole week off from work  (as well as next week!). They just bought a new house in Chestermere so I went to check it out and to catch up on everything.
Their home is so beautiful! As we were catching up she told me that they had finished their website that they were working on and they sell different baby items. Here is the site that you all can check out. They even make little rocker chairs for kids you definitely need to have a peak at those I have never seen them any where else before.
Then the rest of my day I just did a few things around the house.

Saturday

Today Matt and I went to our church because we were going to meet other people there to clean out the church and bring it to our new church that will be dedicated next week on Sunday. We got there around 11am and got right into it and started cleaning it out. There ended up being maybe around 20 people who came to help which made things go a lot faster if there were only a handful of people. We were able to get the majority of the things out of the church by just after 2pm and headed to the new church. Matt and I only stayed till about 4:30 to 5pm ish. Others were still there till 11pm getting different things built and in their final spots.
Matt and I had headed over to John and Rachel's house and we had a really nice dinner with them.

Sunday

This morning we had our last church service in the old church building and are looking forward to next Sunday for our first service in the new church! I can't believe its already next week, time just seems to have flown. After church Matt had a T time for golf and I stayed home and made some mini banana muffins and to loaves of banana bread. For dinner I made taco salad (it's one of Matt's favorites) I really like this dish too and we will have left overs for a few days!

Wicked

Last night Rachel took me to go see Wicked at our local Theater for my birthday (my birthday was in April but this show wasn't being performed until now). If you haven't heard about Wicked before just as a short summary it was to kind of give you the background of the witches of Oz before Dorthy came. I thought it was fantastic! We decided that at least once a year we need to have a girls night and go out to the theater!

Friday

This Morning I woke up at 12:45a.m. Yes the "a.m." is correct. I needed to wake up so early because Matt and I were going on a youth trip with the Alberta youth from our church to Colorado Springs. Our flight was at 6a.m. so we needed to be at the air port very early. The other reason for waking up so early is that we had 4 guys staying at our house that were coming on the youth weekend. They stayed at our house because they live about 4 hours away and who wants to drive that distance so early in the morning or so late at night, which ever way you look at it.
So we arrived at the airport just after 3a.m. and there were 2 people from our group already there. So we waited for the rest of them and waited for the people at United Air to open their counters (at 4a.m.). Once they opened Matt went to explain to them that we are all traveling together and get things sorted out.
We all got through customs with out too many problems, and got to Denver safely. Here are a few pics.

Saturday

This morning there was an optional hike (I opted out since it was a 6am) to go on or people could sleep in for a bit and then just go for breakfast at 8am. After breakfast we went upstairs and we did an I serve project which was making Christmas shoe boxes filled with items for kids in third world countries. Here are some of the boxes that we had wrapped and filled.

Then in the afternoon after our other activities we had the option of going to Garden of the Gods here are a few pictures of what it looked like.

This store had so much stuff in it. I bought a t-shirt because I like to buy t-shirts when I go to different places.

Sunday

This morning we had to make sure we were packed before service which wasn't very hard at all. We went and had breakfast and then we had service which was really great!

Then we went to the church in Colorado Springs and had a BBQ before we had to head to the airport since we had a few extra hours before our plane had to leave. We ended up singing a bunch of church songs at the church while we were waiting too which was really fun. 

Once it was time to go we said our final goodbyes and off we went to the airport. I must say that there really weren't any issues when were flying home, which was great. A good way to end the weekend.

Friday

HAPPY CANADA DAY!
Today we had some company staying at our place till tomorrow (they had already arrived last night). They are in town because today there is an orchestra practise at church and they are in the orchestra, see they are from Cranbrook so it makes sense for them to come and stay with us since they will be here all weekend. After they were done at their practise we all went over to John and Rachel's house for a Canada Day BBQ. It was great we had burgers, corn on the cob, yam fries and regular fries, fruit, veggies, the works I tell ya! We had really nice weather so everyone went outside (except for Rachel, Henry and I) and played bocce ball. Rae and I had some girl time together which was great! I can't wait for next week because then I will be on holidays and then I can have more girl time!

Saturday

This morning it was a lazy morning got ready then had breakfast and then left to go for choir practise. Choir practise started at 11am but I didn't stay for the whole choir practise, after lunch just something wasn't sitting right with me so I went home. I had a nap when I got home and felt much better later on. Then the rest of the evening was pretty laid back.


Sunday

This morning we had service at a different congregation (South) then our usual one (East) because Matt was holding service there and I went with him. This service was a really special and important service because it was the service for the departed. Those that have passed on already still need our prayers and to be invited to receive spiritual food just like the rest of us. These services are now even more dear to my heart then they were before.
