Renovation Wednesday

                                

 So more Renos have happened which is super exciting because then soon I will be able to move home again! Here is what happened over the weekend. Starting on Friday my dad came over to my house and him and Matt got the walls in all the bedrooms ready with putty to fix all the imperfections that the walls had. Which there was a lot of as you will be able to tell in the photos below. Saturday they got the first coat of paint on the ceiling and did more sanding and mudding on the walls. Sunday was the same thing, second coat on the ceiling and more work on the walls. Then Monday and Tuesday was painting the walls days. The new paint color I thought was going to be way too light, but it just brightens up the rooms and makes them feel bigger. I'm hoping that this coming weekend baseboards will be all bought and varnished, maybe even installed? That would be great!



Here is what the baby's room looked like before, well all patched up but it had a really dark purple on the walls which made it feel very small.

Renovation Wednesday

               

 Our office in the basement has had so much progress completed! The walls are up they have been mudded and primed, and painted. Not only are the walls done but the ceiling is up and the floor is leveled. Matt still has to finish up the electrical but we are getting so close! The baseboards for in there are all varnished and ready to get installed. I can't wait till this is done and we can move things into the new room. Also I am looking forward to the upstairs to be done as well. I would really like to get started on the baby's room.

Renovation Wednesday

So we have gotten more done on the basement! Cement is done and the outside walls are all straight now and re insulated. I'm really hoping that over the Christmas break we can get a lot done in the basement. Maybe get the walls built for the rooms, wouldn't that be super exciting. Matt's older brother did say that he is going to bring some of his tools when he comes for Christmas so hopefully things will get done.

Renovation Wednesday

Yay all the concrete is poured! Now Matt just has to remove the extra rocks and then put this concrete leveler down and then we can start getting walls up. So on Monday night I tried to see if I could email Disaster DIY to Bryan to come to our house and finish this up. But I don't think I found the right spot. All I found was a contact page so I emailed them to see if they can let me know how I can enter a submission. Wouldn't that be crazy cool if we got to go on Disaster DIY!

Renovation Wednesday

Yay progress on the basement! So on Friday Matt's brother Kris now had time to come and do our plumbing for us after we had to try and contact about 5 other people to see if they could get this done for us. But we are happy and grateful that it is done. Of course I do wish that it had been done sooner so that we could have already been in the framing stage but hopefully that is not too far away now. We still have a bit more concrete work to be done but that should hopefully get done this week and then maybe by the weekend we can start getting framing done. My dad is going to come over on Saturday to help Matt move the crib to their house so maybe he can come back and stick around for a bit and help Matt get some more thing done in the basement. But here are a few more photos of the progress.

I wasn't home before Matt finished filling in the trench with the gravel again so I missed getting the pictures of the plumbing lines.

Renovation Wednesday

So it has been about 3 weeks now and our basement has looked the same. I was hoping to have had more posts on our reno progress but unfortunately the person that we originally had to do the plumbing has kind of pushed it off now and we don't know if he is ever actually going to do it. So we now have had to look for someone else to do it for us, hopefully this will all work out and now its going to cost us way more then what we were planning on. You can only rely some family members on only small things and I guess not so much on big things like this.

Renovation Wednesday

It has been a while since the last reno post has taken place but that is because it has taken a while for more things to get done in the basement. I now have holes in my basement, well more like a trench. Matt started to break up the concrete with the jack hammer but didn't have too much time. So last week his dad came to our house and finished jack hammering for us. Now Matt just has to do a bit of digging with the shovel to make a clear path for the pipes to go down for the wash room. I'm hoping this will get done very soon because it would be nice to start working on the nursery but I can't do that until the office goes to the basement.

Renovation Wednesday

So we have started to do some more work in our basement. Well Matt and my brother and our friend Matt did this bit of work last week on Thursday night. I forgot to take a before picture but this room that they demoed had ugly wood panelling from the 70s and then there was drywall behind it too. Also there was an ugly reddish/ brownish carpet that they ripped up too. So really it wasn't very pretty to look at before. Here are some pictures after the demo.

So our back yard was looking ghetto again with all the material they ripped out of the basement. Oh well this should be all taken to the dump yard pretty soon.
