Weekend Recap

Friday

After work today Matt and I went over to a friend of ours place from Church. We have been meaning to get together with them for a really long time but our schedule it just crazy. We had a great dinner Ruth made so much food, it was all delicious though too (she sent us home with left overs yum!) We played with the kids too and had some cuddles with them. We had great conversations going through the whole evening. Over all it was great! Wish we would have been able to do this sooner.

Saturday

This morning I didn't do anything fun just had to get things cleaned around the house. However in the afternoon I did go to a baby shower for my friend Hamidah, I used to work with her at the dental office that I work at. She is due August 10th so its coming up pretty soon! For our gift I went in on it with 2 other ladies from my office that I work with. We ended up getting gender neutral things since they don't know what the sex of the baby is. However I didn't get to see her open the gift so i should have taken pictures of what we had gotten her before I wrapped but I didn't think I needed too, I thought I would get to see her open the gift. Reason for me not being able to see her open the gift was because I had to leave early because we had youth service that evening and I had to pick someone up for it.

We had a nice youth service and had make your own sundae after service it was really great we haven't had sundaes with the youth for a while.

Sunday

Today we had church and had a presentation after the service too. We also had a choir practice to go over the songs that we have learnt for our church dedication in July (which is coming up so fast!). When I got home it was a fairly relaxing day after that. I was kind of feeling like a cold was coming on, I hope it doesn't last but I some how feel like it will turn in to a cold.

Friday

Not too much was happening today just some grocery shopping and things around the how. A not so very interesting Friday, Oh well I guess its good to have those every once in a while.

Saturday

Early this afternoon we were getting together at one of our churches to do Father's day cookie baking with the youth. So I went and picked up a few people as did others and we met at the church. Unfortunately there were only about 5 youth but we had a really great time. Here are some pictures.

Happy Father's day to all the fathers out there! Today we had service at church and after the young people handed out the cookies to all the fathers.

Then Matt and I and his parents went over to John and Rae's house for the evening since John's parents were out visiting. It was a really great evening!

1. Who in your life has most recently had a baby?

My dearest bestest girlie friend Rachel!

2. Who in your life has most recently purchased a car?

My friend Kunthoeun who is also my sister in laws sister.

3. Who in your life has most recently lost a fair amount of weight?

Off the top of my head all I can think of is just the women around me that just had their babies, they are all losing their baby weight.

4. Who in your life has most recently gotten a terrific haircut?

No one has really had a hair cut recently.

5. Who in your life has most recently begun a new job?

Well again back to all the new mom's they are now all mom's so that is a really great new job.

Friday

This evening I took Matt out to go shopping. I don't normally ask him to go shopping with me but I needed him to come with me because I was going to buy him new golf clubs for his birthday so he kind of needed to be there to try them out. He was really excited and happy about his birthday gift. So we left the house and went to Gold Town to go find him some new clubs. (the ones that he has now he had bought them off kijiji and he ended up breaking the head of the driver that is how cheap they were)

Anyways we were helped by the assistant manager and Matt found clubs that worked for him. I was also looking around and then I found these.

I bought myself golf clubs too! They were originally $500 but I got them for $375 so I figured that was a good deal and the Assistant Manager had said they have never really had green gold clubs before. So it was meant to be I had to have them.

Saturday

I slept in a little bit today but I couldn't sleep in too long since today we had a choir practise at 11am at church. At choir practise we went through all the songs that we will be singing for the Chief Apostle service in July. Can you believe that June is almost half over already! It's crazy how fast this year has been going. Choir practise ended around 3pm so I went home and Matt had tidy up because he had invited some people over from the choir practise to hang out.
Dave and Nicole and their son had come over and Matt was getting some help with our computer from Dave (he is really smart with computers) so almost 5 hours later they left since Matt and Dave were doing so many things on the computer, Nicole said that she is used to this happening where ever they go.

Sunday

Today we went to church for Pentecost. After the service I got to hold little Henry, he has gotten so big already. I can't wait till there is no more family visiting John and Rae so then I can come visit more (sorry Rae not trying to be rude, just miss you). When we got home we had a little snack and then watched the Mask.

Matt ended up taking a little nap and then we went over to my parents house to celebrate Matt's birthday from last weekend. It was just us and my parents since Jonathan was sick, so Megan didn't come either which I don't blame her its still early in their relation ship for her to feel totally comfortable to hang out with our family with out Jonathan there. Mom made little mini burgers and taco salad. It was so good, and since it was just the four of us we got to take left overs home! Dinner for the next 2 nights awesome!

Five Question Friday

1. Did you have a favorite blanket or toy as a kid? If so, do you still have it?

The one toy that I can really remember is this doll that I had and still have. It had blonde hair and blue eyes. I used to braid it's hair all the time and put curlers in.

2. Do you dream in color?

I'm pretty sure I do, some dreams I don't even remember what the dream was about so with those ones I'm not sure if it was color or black and white.

3. How tall are you? Do you wish you were shorter or taller?

I am 5'6", I am pretty content with my height I can find clothes pretty easily for my height, the rest of me well that is a different story for finding clothes to fit. Lets just say not always easy!

4. If you could have anyone's (celeb or other) voice as the guide on your GPS, who would it be?

Hmm? Maybe Johnny Depp because I like his accent in the Pirates of the Caribbean. 

5. Do you return your shopping cart to the corral or leave it wherever in the parking lot?

I usually do return it the only time I don't return it is sometimes at Costco when I am no where near a cart corral.

Friday

Today after work I got to meet up with a friend of mine that I haven't seen for what feels like forever! We went to Joey's Tomato and chatted for about an hour and a half it was fantastic!

After dinner I went to a couple of places to try to get a few things but I didn't end up having much luck.

Saturday

Today is Matt's 32nd Birthday but I don't get to see him until tomorrow since he is in Vancouver this weekend for a church seminar. I know that he will be having a nice time there and get a lot out of it but it still sucks a bit that I don't get to see him on his actual birthday.
While he is away I am trying to go through the house and get rid of a few things by putting them on kijiji. So far I only got rid of one thing and possible 2 more things. Then I just did a few boring things like clean, and laundry. No real excitement for my Saturday but it was productive.

Sunday

This morning I went to church and we had a choir practice right after service, which is fine with me because then we aren't waiting around for people to come back from going in the basement or outside and chit chatting forever!
After church my mom came over for a bit because we were going to work on a shadow box project but we needed a few things that I didn't have. So we will have to wait until I get these things and then we can get this project done!
Since I now had my afternoon open I called my brother to see about getting some metal studs from him for our basement since he had extra ones from building his garage. So I took the truck over and we loaded them in the back. He came back home with me to help me un-load them and also to load up some wood that we had in our back yard that he was going to cut up so he could use it for his fire pit (which he can't use right now since there is a fire ban with all the fires that are happening in Alberta). So back we went to his house with all this wood and got it un-loaded.
I then went home and just relaxed for most of the time before it was time for me to pick up Matt and 2 other guys from the airport. So Calgary has the newer parking lot called the cell phone parking lot. Basically you can park there for a max of 60 minutes and wait till you get a call from the person that you are picking up at the airport so then you can just drive to the doors and get them rather then going and parking get your ticket and wait inside and possibly have to pay if your over 30minutes. I got to the parking lot and it was really full and I had the truck! The massive truck! So I drove to the back park of the parking lot and there was a spot open, there was a truck on one side and a car on the other. To make this short I BACKED INTO THE SPOT with the huge truck and I did it in one shot. I was super proud of myself. I know some people find driving a truck is easy, but I don't get to drive the truck to often so parking with the truck is not a strong point for me yet.
It's great to have Matt home again. He told me all about his trip and he had a really great time.

1.What’s your favorite pickled food?

Just pickles, I really haven't tried any other pickled food.

2.What’s your favorite dehydrated food?

I really like dehydrated mangos! I haven't had them in a while but that is probably for the better.

3.What’s your favorite covered-in-chocolate food?

Just about anything! I think right now would be those chocolate covered Ice cream Popsicles.

4.What’s your favorite sauteed-in-garlic-and-butter food?

SHRIMP! I love eating shrimp all the time but I really do like it when it is covered in garlic and butter.

5.What’s your favorite order-at-the-drive-through food?

Probably a cheese burger and a caramel sundae YUM!

Renovation Wednesday

I finally get to give you more renovation updates! I was really surprised that Matt had decided to just get working on the laundry room this weekend. I have been complaining letting Matt know about how the copper pipes build up with condensation when I am doing laundry and then the water drips on me as I am changing out the laundry. So Matt started on Friday to insulate the copper pipes. Here are a few pictures of what he did.

Then on Saturday while I was out shopping Matt continued on with all this work and he got so much done. Here is a list of what he did.
-finished insulating all the copper pipes
-moved the washer and dryer out from against the wall
- removed all the old insulation off the wall that the washer and dryer were up against
-found a small bit of mold, so he cleaned the whole wall
-attached the dryer vent to the outside connector
-re-insulated the wall
-polyed the wall
-put dry wall sheets up
That is a lot of work to do all on your own. Here are a few pictures

Then on Monday night my parents came over again so my dad could help Matt lift the washer and dryer onto the new pedestals. Here is how it looks now.
