Weekend Recap

Friday

Today I didn't do too much after work since I know that the rest of the weekend we will be pretty busy.

Saturday

Today was our Church open house BBQ. We had great weather, thank goodness because it obviously was outside since it was a BBQ! There were a bunch of games to play, there were bouncy houses (3 to be exact), face painting, cotton candy and fresh popcorn! There was so much to do that you couldn't be bored. People from the neighbourhood came which was really great, enjoyed the BBQ and also were given a tour of the new church. As far as I know there was only positive feed back (really what can you say negatively about a church even if you aren't religious). It was a long day but it was still enjoyable. Here are some pictures.

Today we had service and had a big fellowship afterwards with left over hot dogs and burgers from yesterday. We had a great turn out today as well which was great to see!

Friday

Today I got to leave work early which was really great because Matt and I are heading to Banff for a nice weekend get away. The hotel that we stayed at was The fairmont Hotel. To be honest the only reason we stayed there was because we had gift certificates from our wedding to stay at a fairmont hotel. I kow there are mush cheaper and practical fairmont hotels that we could have stayed at but we figured we would splurge a bit because when are we ever going to stay at the Fairmont Hotel in Banff again.... likely never. So this hotel is basically a huge castle. It was really easy to check in and I was a little confused at first at how we get to the elevators. But we found our way and headed to our room. As we were turning down the hall to our room we saw one of the bellmen with our bags so we just followed him the rest of the way and checked out our room. So the rooms at this hotel aren't like your typical modern hotel room, they are a bit smaller and the room we had was a deluxe king size room which we thought was kind of an average size room at other hotels. But here are some, well a lot of pictures of our room.

So I thought this was pretty cool our washroom had a step to get into it.

Yay big bed! I love sleeping in king size beds. I wish our master bedroom at home was big enough for one.

Once we settled our things in our room we went downstairs to see where we could eat tonight. Well just about all the resturants at the hotel were booked up for dinner. We did get in to one though for about 6:30pm. So in the mean time we just went to the little "corner store" that they have and got a few snack items. We brought those to our room and then headed for dinner. I have to say the food at this resturant was nothing too special (and I forgot to take a picture) but the bill was sure pricey.
After dinner we just walked around the grounds for a little bit and then headed back to our room for an early ngiht since tomorrow we are going to go to town and do a few things.

Saturday

Today we had breakfast at Phill's because the food at the hotel is just too expensive. Then we headed to the Banff Gondola since we have not been there in years! Last time we were there we had hiked up the mountain and then road the Gondola down, this time we took the Gondola up and down. It was around 10:30am when we got there and we were able to get a parking spot no problem which was surprising because it was already almost packed. Once we got up to the top I thought it would maybe be a little cold since we were so high up but it was just beautiful, it was just right! We went all the way to the top of the look out spots and then walked back, of course taking a few pictures along the way. Here are some of them.

Once we were done our adventure at the Gondola we left the parking lot which some how got even more full and people were just circling to try and find a parking spot. We were so happy we decided to go more in the morning.
Afterwards we went back into the town and did some walking around and went into stores we didn't really buy anything though, there were a few things that we wanted to get but thought we should just wait. We also went back to our hotel not too late because we had dinner reservations at their Italian restaurant.

I have ordered my meal and still couldn't eat it all even though I really wanted to! To work off our meals we decided to go walk around the hotel and check it out.

Today we headed home which was sad that our weekend was over but nice as well because really there is no place like home.

Friday

This evening I was suppose to go to a Cambodian wedding ceremony at Doris's parents house but Matt never told me what time I was suppose to be there and by the time he sent me a text asking me where I was because it was about to start I was at home in comfy clothes doing some cleaning. But I do have some pictures that my mom had taken so everyone can see them.

Saturday

Today is Doris and Geoff's wedding. Matt and I went early so we could get a few things set up for them before they arrived. Once just about all the guests arrived it was getting really close to when the ceremony was suppose to start and the bride and the groom still hadn't arrived. First the groom arrived with his guys and then maybe about 15 minutes later the bride and her ladies arrived. During this Matt had to make an announcement that we would be a bit delayed. I got all the guys ready with their boutonnieres and then got the ladies ready to take their places. It was a really nice wedding, very sweet. Here are some pictures that my mom took, since I wasn't able to take any pictures since I was busy in the back of the church.





Then later in the evening we went to the reception and there was so much Chinese food. It was really good. We weren't able to stay too late because 1. we had church in the morning, and 2. Cambodian wedding receptions are really loud because they have a live band.

Today we had a Bishop service which was really special. We don't get to have Bishops out too often. The Bishop was in town because he held the wedding yesterday, so he made a weekend out of it and held service today. After the service there was a small fellowship at the church and then we went home. Since Matt's older brother was in town also for the wedding we had invited him and his family over after church for a little visit. Unfortunately they weren't all able to come over because Kunthea and the the 2 boys were sick so Richard and Rachelle came over for a little bit. Matt had to drive the Bishop around to a few places so I just stayed home and did a few things around the house. Then the rest of the evening when Matt came home we just relaxed after the busy weekend.

Friday

Today after work I really didn't end up doing too much which was GREAT!

Saturday

This afternoon we had youth service at our new church and we used the gym for basketball and was outside most of the time afterwards too. I had to leave a little bit earlier because there was a bachlorette "party" for my friend Doris who is getting married next week! There was a ton of food and some fun games. I stayed for a few hours because around 8 to 8:30ish they were going to start getting ready to go out to some bars (i'm not really the bar type of person) But it was a really great evening!

Today after church I met up with my brother's girlfriend Megan in Westhills to go to a movie and do a little bit of shopping before hand. There wasn't really anything "good" that I could find so I didn't buy anything except for a new curling iron. Megan bought a candle and some sented beads and some sweat pants for my brother. Then we drove back to the movie theatre and watched Stupid Crazy Love. It had some really funny parts in there and it was really cute!

Friday

Today is our 5th Wedding Anniversary! Time has gone by so fast I can't believe it has been 5 years that we have been married already. I'm not sure if anyone else ever feels this way but I feel like it has been much longer, but in the good way. I just love my husband so much that it just feels like this is how it has always been, us married. I really am super excited and happy to be spending the rest of my life with him, he truly is my one and only!
Matt had to work late today so we weren't really able to go out for dinner so instead I just made something simple and we watched a movie. We are really low key type of people and don't feel the need to do something extravagant on "special occasions", I prefer to just do things randomly through out the year. It was a really nice evening just the two of us hanging out.

Saturday

This morning Matt had to go to work for a while and then we were going to heading to Cranbrook BC because Matt was on the schedule to hold service on Sunday there. So we didn't leave until 2:20pm and then we got a bit of traffic heading out of the city (really on a long weekend I thought everyone would be gone this weekend). The drive was not too bad but there was quite a bit of traffic on the highways too.
Once we got to Cranbrook we signed in to our hotel and then went for some dinner. We just walked over to East Side Mario's since it was on the same side as our hotel so we didn't have to run across the highway (that would not have been safe). During dessert the rector and his wife from Cranbrook came to hang out with us for a bit at the restaurant since we wouldn't be seeing them tomorrow (they were scheduled to go to Castlegaar)
Then we walked back to the hotel and pretty much went to sleep right away, it was a long day of driving.

Sunday

We went to the Cranbrook congregation for service and they have a large group of senior ladies who are super nice and hilarious. We had a great time there. Then Matt and I headed home (another 4 + hour drive) but we took a bit of a different route to get home and we stopped for ice cream on the way. Matt got a milk shake and I had smarties ice cream and cookies and cream, they were big scoops and I can't believe I ate the whole thing!
Once we got home I unpacked and we spent the evening relaxing.

Monday

Yay long weekend Monday! Today Matt went out golfing with some guys I would have gone but I just felt like staying home and getting somethings done around the house since we were having some company this evening. So I did the usual boring cleaning things, I won't go into detail because that will get really boring.
Just after 6pm our friends Rob and Evelyn came over with their kids, we just had pizza and salad because I wasn't sure what the kids liked to eat or wouldn't touch so we thought pizza would be safe.
It was a nice evening, it was short but it was still really great to see them.
